Title: Convex-mug
Name: Patrick Grochowy
Country: Germany
Software: Blender

A try to make a "Product-Photography" (for a kind of virtual catalogue or s.th.) of a Mug (or Cup) with convex bottom (for not having to dry the upside-down-mugs with a towel in the dishwasher after the machine is ready but before the dishes have cooled down to avoid pouring cold dishwasher-water on your feet when putting the clean mugs back into the cupboard; got it? <gg>) and an uncontinuous 'standing ring' to allow the water to flow of the mug. I tried to make it look like a kind of Advertisment-Photography and not to look like a cheap product. My first try in Blender, any comments and critics welcome. <gg>

thx Paddy

You may wish to evalute the interface between the handle and the body of the mug. I went to my cupboard to double check my cups, they all have a smooth flowing transition instead of looking like the handle is flat on the ends and is perhaps screwed to the cup from the inside.

I like the convex idea.

In addition to what ChronicAcuity commented, if you work on the material and light effect I think it would look better.
Good luck

Yeah, you're right. Don't know, why I didn't see that.
I'll make a new version, hopefully today <gg>.

Thanks, I wonder why I never saw cups like that in RL.
Am I the only one that is annoyed of dish-washer-water splattering on my feet? <gg>
Should be no problem in the production-process of cups, I think ...

Work on Material and light effect in which direction?
More reflections? Surface more shiny?
What exactly do you mean?

Thx for the replys, I'll post a new version soon. <gg>

Hi ..
What I meant is to increase the level of glossiness and specular, usually mugs are made of high gloss material, you can see strokes of shiny speculars specially on the round edges as if it's reflecting a source of light, unless the mugs are made of matt finishing.

I think this one is better now.
