I've been trying to create some realistic looking hair for a female model I was working on.... Got a little help from some people and ended up getting more confused. I found an example picture of what I want to do. This is a link I just got from CGnetworks.com news letter..... the female model here is similar to what I have so far, minus the hair, but how did the left picture get to the right picture as far as hair? It's obviously modeled with geometry, but then all rendered out it's good looking hair. how was this done? ....... with some special shader/texture?....... This is what I need to figure out, and im lost.

Something like this (http://www.comet-cartoons.com/toons/3ddocs/hair/index.html).

It's just textures of the hair strands for colour, and one for transparency.
