View Full Version : Motion Builder 6 PLE
rsquires 03-10-2005, 11:59 AM As a complete newbie to Motion Builder ( but one who has always been interested in it ) does version 6 not support Cinema 4d. I know I read somewhere that the FBX export was broken with the upgrade to 6. I saw that the SDk had been released so maybe some rather clever/nice person will rectify this problem.
I also need to find some tips/tutorials about the workflow between Motion Builder and Cinema 4D.

Hi
I'm a little hesitant to switch versions in the middle of a project so I haven't checked if the import issue has been fixed in R9.1. However, on Alias' site there's a little converter program that takes a FBX6 and converts it to FBX5 which works famously.
I don't have the exact URL at the moment but on MAXON's site there's a PDF file you can download which explains in detail what to do. Also if you can get your hands on issue 61 of 3D World Mag, there's a great video tut on the cover disk which involves going back an forth between C4D and MB.

Thanks for that info.
Do you know whether you have to build the skeletons from scratch in Cinema. Rigging is not something I have done a great deal of so it's a bit daunting!

Hi
Olli Wuensch wrote a tut a while back on how to accomplish this. Here's the address:
