View Full Version : Brushes window madness

Old versions of PS had this nice feature, that you could see many brush sizes at once in a window and it was a breeze to pick one you liked, but in PS 6 there is just this annoying "palette" which shows only one brush and to be able to select another one you have to tediously click on it and then select another brush. Is it possible to let this "dialog" open or use any other solution? If not, I am not trusting newer versions, so I think I go back to PS 4 which was so much user frendlier in many ways...:(

you can right-click to bring up a brush selector.
you also use the hotkeys [ and ] to cycle brushes.

Right-click did not bring me a brush selector and cyckling is cumbersome so it's out of question.

Out of the question, eh? haha :) Well fine, if you wanna put up an attitude, be my guest! The program isn't going to change for you.

If cycling brushes is too cumbersome, arrange them so the ones you use are closer to each other.

If the right click menu you get wasn't quite what you were looking for, check the menu you can access in there. You can change the list to a thumbnail panel, similar to the one in PS4.

handy, eh?

It's not about attitude...it's about workflow.

That would only work with two or three brushes and I use more, so that won't work.

Somehow I do not follow you...thumbnail is already visible, but it vanishes everytime I start to draw and I have to open it again and then choose another brush and so on....

of course it's about workflow, but what I mean is : it's all there. all you have to do is look (although, admittedly, sometimes stuff gets lost in the enormous swirl of options that are in there)

anyways! time for a visual reference then.

go to your brushes tab on the top right
open the menu (the little arrow on the right)
disable dock to palette well
disable expanded view
enable small thumbnails
snap your brush menu to whereever you want it.

Are You sure you talk about version 6 as I mentioned? There is no all things as in your image capture. I do not have settings for "docking" or "expanding".

ahhh, I see. I'm sorry, I was madly assuming that you were talking about a more recent version of Photoshop. Yeah, sorry. This only exists in 7 and CS.

So I was not such an idiot I was thinkin of...now to either upgrade or go to back to golden days of version 4.
