Hello,

This is a animation I have been working on. I basically usually Pose to pose with layering the animation. The inbetweens are all linear

Please tell me whats working and whats not

Thanks

thats some tricky animation right there!! :)
very nice!! :)

could you maybe reconcider the possition of the arms before the jump..put them under him instead of above him....hmm just tried it in my room..your way might actually work better.. :)
oh well :)

hilarious run animation :D just too funny :)
but you could streatch hus legs out just a taaaad more..I mean the ones making the spring..the back ones :D heh :)

good game :)

Well... right now the run does not seem natural at all, from what I can get out of trying to go frame by fram is that he is hanging in the air probably 3 times as long as it takes him to get into the air... this should all be one fluid movement, where right now it looks like is activating a jump pack on take off, hovering a second, and the turning it off and snapping back to the ground like a magnent.

I like the jump sequence after he has hit the wall... it's probably the best part of this piece, but the jump sequence getting to the wall needs some work, when he leaves the ground it doesn't look like he has enough inertia to reach that wall, and then there is that part where he throws up his arms and looks like he's about to do a back flip... and all his movement is going into that back flip and then boom, he's going forward all of a sudden and doing a front flip... So I would suggest holding off on the jump just a little further, and start off with him curling up into that front flip to that wall, it'll make it look much more natural and fluid...

Well that's about all I've got for now, just fix those other little pauses where he hangs in the air a bit, and it'll be looking very nice :bounce:

I agree with Skye Phelps. When you're really running most of your center of gravity is mostly in front of you. If you would freeze frame the extreme part it might look as if you would fall forward. Keep in mind this is a fast run. You could have a jog where the center of gravity is mostly in the middle so you're more stable. Here's a side view of my running jump, maybe it'll give you some ideas. Though I don't have the jump part done yet.

Like Skye said, the part after he jumps off the wall is the best part. Keep it up.

Hey SirRon and ShyePhelps,

I went ahead and fixed the poses of the run. Now they stretch more so I guess, the centre of gravity has changed now.

Also the part of the frontflip, I went ahead and found a solution for that. I hope it is more believing now.

I can't play it either. I downloaded it fine, but I don't see the video when I use windows media or quicktime.

May I ask what program you're using to compress and the codec you're using?

I have used a mpeg 1 encoded using TMGExpress

Hope it works

I see you got the new clip working, it's looking a bit better but the run is still off... It still looks like he is floating after he lifts off the ground. An easy fix for this may be to not have him leave the so much, or just speed up the timing of the area of the run where he leaves the ground and gets back to the ground....

I also noticed what you're doing for the front flip, and well, it's impossible for someone to be able to do that.... all the inertia is trying to swing his legs up over his head after he leaves that pole, and then you have him tuck in and roll the opposite way, that's just not possible for a person to do... now if he had a jump pack on his head and used that (which would be pretty cool to see) then it would be possible, but right now it's not...

So just fix that, and take care of the hanging in the air for the run, and it should be much better.

Hey Skye and everybody else,

I took your advice and did 2 variations of the run.

I like to know which run is working.
