View Full Version : Max7: Cloth Extension not working properly
Daemonic 03-09-2005, 03:40 PM Hi,
after installing the new cloth extension to max 7 i've tried the flag tutorial but with no success (very unnatural movement) ... so i've opened one of the sample cloth files and clicked the simulate local (damped) button... but the cloth did not settle and continues moving in a chaotic way.
Even reinstalling didn't solve the problem.
Maybe one of you has the same problem (with solution)... please help!

P.S: My english might be bad.

you have to assign the box below the cloth as a collision object... if there are some other problems, give higher values in Subsample ( 2 or 4 or 8 works fine but the simulation time goes up)

First of all i'd check that your scene scale is set to real world units and that that unit ratio matches the scale that you set in the cloth extention modifier.
However, more likely is that it's a licensing issue. For the demo version of ClothFX (which Cloth Extention is based off), Size8 software added in intermittent chaotic movement to the simulation so that people can see that things move like real cloth, yet they can't make clean simulations to use in production stuff. When ClothFX has licensing issues it seems to revert to this mode and you get the cloth jitter. Normally reinstalling solves the problem (or at least it did for me), but you may have to contact Discreet if reinstalling doesn't solve your problem.
Just as a quick note: I'm not for one minute suggesting you have a cracked copy, but it has been raised previously that the cracked version of this software often has this issue, obviously because there's no valid license.
Hope that's been useful to you.

well, I figured out that it really was a license issue. After de-installing hairFX, the cloth extension works perfect.
