My 8.5 studio bundle came with seperate bodypaint install and docs cds aside from the module cds. I was wondering if the same serial would work if I opted to install it standalone or would it require a totally different one? ANy benefits to having BP installed as standalone?

The BP module and stand alone serials are different. You only have a license for one or the other.

It used to be that you could choose between module and standalone but that changed at some point--not sure when. The only advantage to installing standalone is that you wouldn't have to pay the small handling fee to upgrade BP if/when you upgraded to R9. But I think that would be greatly outweighed by the convenience of having the module installation.

Cool. Thanks for clearing that up Srek. :)\

Does this mean that if I knew someone who wanted to buy the standalone cds off of me they could register it as if they bought it from maxon?

The installation CD might contain the module as well as the standalone version. The important part is what license you have not if you have the CD/Installer.
If you have a BP standalone license you can sell it without any problem, just make sure to inform Maxon of the change of ownership.
