I am trying to composite some smoke on to some DV footoage. I select the frames I want and put it in as the viewport background. I key framed where the smoke moves and it looks great. Now when I go to render it, it tries and renders the whole movie. I tried inputing the exact fram numbers in the renderer but it doesn't match up with the movement. My question is: is it possible to render what you have used for the background?

Thanks

There are a couple different ways to do this. Your viewport background is independant of your environment background. The easiest way to use them together is to set your environment to Bitmap > Screen Environment and then set your viewport background to Use Environment. Now all you have to do is adjust the time values in your bitmap to line it up to the start point of your scene.

I see how that can work but now I do not have the option in the viewport background settings to specify the frames I want. The only I can think of is to set the time line to the length of the entire video clip. Is there another way?

Nevermind I tried doing it through the Time Configuration and selected the frames I wanted. Thanks for the help.

See my post above. It says you use the time controls in the Bitmap control.
