I can't seem to get my brain around this one. I'm using the demo of 5.5, maybe that's why. So can anyone tell me how to apply some motion to my rigs?

Hey Dan,
Do you have any mocap files already or are you looking to generate new files. And is your version standard or pro, they can't do all the same things. If your just looking for material to test the demo with go to 3D Buzz and in the download area there is a clip art cd. I haven't downloaded it myself (I have the MB 5 CD) but it should have some motion files in it. The tutorials are very helpful, too. Also some of the links in the MB resource thread may still work. I should check both of these before I refer anyone else. Hopefully, one of these areas will get you going. I would be interested to know what you think of MB once you've had a chance to test it out. Love that realtime viewport. It adds a lot to Cinema.

Hey Samer, I do have the motion clip art cd and tutorials. I should have looked through them before posting. I get a little impatient sometimes. Yet i have figured it out. If you would like i can pm you a quick little tutorial if you need to know how to use it.

I've had a freind export a couple of scenes to fbx so i can try them out but the motion doesn't seem to transfer correctly. Maybe we are doing something wrong within motion builder. Because when importing the fbx file into cinema the only thing that is animated is the reference nulls. The bones don't move. Maybe this has something to do with plotting the animation in MB. I've really got to watch those tutorials. I even converted them to DVD so my lazy butt can sit on the couch and watch them. Yet i haven't yet.

Do you know the correct way to export motion from MB to then import motion into C4D?

Thanks for the tutorial offer Dan. I meant that I use the data on the MB 5 CD which I beleive has more on it than MB 4 clip art CD, so I haven't downloaded and checked what is available on it.

I haven't had any problem importing into C4D from MB 5, 5.5 or 6 (Alias has released the SDK so Maxon should have R9 updated to work with MB 6 at some point in the future). A quick thought as to your import problem, check to see if your friend did something like 'Plot Selected(Selected Properties)' with the reference selected in the MB Navigator window. Easiest thing to try would be 'Plot All(All Properties)'

I did a test scene for you to try but it's to large to post here. If the above dosen't work your welcome to email me sammer(at)ak(dot)net but I bet you'll have if figured out by then.

Good luck
Sam

Thanks a heap Sammer for the example file offer. We're going to try to do what you suggested, but if we can't figure it out i may take you up on the offer. I'll let you know how i get along.

Hi sammer we couldn't get it to work. I know i have imported .fbx into c4d before. It seems that when i learn something new i forget something old. I was wondering if you could help out here. Thanks.

I would be glad to try and help. If you can email me the scene or any particulars that may help. Or I can email you a couple of different scenes to try and open. Just let me know.
