View Full Version : multiple textures
Dinodiegus 09-20-2002, 07:35 PM Hi,
My question is, how do i put a TIF image (logo) that has a transparency background onto an object that has already a material on it.
Basicly it's how do i add a texture over another texture?
Anyone can help?
thank you.:bounce:

The bitmap uses it's own alpha channel, so you have to use a image with alpha

ok maybe i am not clear enough on the explanation.
I have a (composite bitmap with alpha channel) that i put in composite material.
under that composite map is a texture map (metal).
For some reason i cant get rid off the green color that is on my (composite bitmap with alpha channel)
its keeping the color that is in my diffuse.
why??
heres a picture :

Please note that what you have in your Composite material, are Standard materials. In the top Standard material you'll place your bitmap in the Diffuse channel.
Copy the Bitmap material node to the Opacity channel, and change its settings to "Alpha", in the Mono Channel Output area. In the the Alpha Source area "Image Alpha" should be checked as well.
Be adviced that specular highlights does not respect the Opacity setting, the highlights will spread across the entire plane. To avoid this you should Instance the Bitmap node from the Opacity channel to the Specular and Glossiness channel.
Does that work? It's been a while since I've toyed with the Composite thing, do tell if things doesn't work.
If you want the logo to be placed at a specific place without disturbing the underlying texture, you can apply a UVW Modifier to the mesh, and set its channel to "2". Set the Bitmap nodes of the logo to also use UV channel "2", and you should be all set.
