Hello all,

I've only just started modelling, and have been following a few tutorials that i've found in these forums already.

One of the tuts shows a step-by-step guide to modelling a head, which i've been going through. The eyes are seperate spheres, but when it comes to lining up the head/face mesh with the sphere, im having a lot of trouble - I always end up with little gaps, or part of the eyeball poking through the eyelid.
This becomes even worse is when I use meshsmooth, since I find the subdivision unpredictable (certainly due to a lack of experience), although I realised earlier I can still manipulate the working mesh whilst viewing the smoothed version... ahem..

How do people line up things like eyes into the eye socket, or any other objects in similar situations? Is there a "snap-to-surface" button im not seeing?

Well, thanks for reading and it been nice to meet you

cheers,
stoo

eyeballs are sort of tricky, ussually i make the eye socket go back a ways and then weld it to the eyeball and delete the back half of the eyeball if that makes sense, its not really hard, just takes some patience to line up all the vertices so that it looks right. i dont know of any magic way to do this sorry :(

I had another go this morning during some free time, and you're right - all it takes is a bit of patience. That, and moving the mesh around to get a good look at it from loads of angles.

thanks,

I'm in the same stage as you.

Is there a setting/tool in maya so that the vertices of the eyelid will line up on the surface of eyeball. I'm working with polygons.
