View Full Version : Vertex Light - something more??
Por@szek 03-08-2005, 10:17 PM Hi all.
A little time ago, I was looking at the eurocom's web, and I saw there "vertex lighting".
I meet with this word earlier but I don't know what is for, how to use it, and where. If You could be so kind and give me some links for tutors (3dmax) or some explanaition shall be great.
Thanks

Pperhaps if you could give more explanation of what exactly youre after and what exactly you want to know it could help
Its all pretty simple
It lights mostly the world but also some of the characters and weapon models and the like. Its used inmost games out there use it one way or another and even 3dsmax itself uses it. Place a light and a sphere in a viewport and move the light, the sphere is vertex litted. Altho without any shadows. You can have vertex light that blocks light eg shadowing or having the light always pass trough everything, which 3dsmax viewport does for example.
Wen and where depends on the game youre working for
The technique itself is pretty low quality, there are better ways of lighting things out there and youll notice the coming few years
