I remember a ring tutorial mention about but i can't find it now.
I tried to make lens effect glow show in reflections,no luck.
Anyone know how to do it or where can i find a tutorial? thanks in advance.

I believe you have to use a raytraced reflection to have it calculate the glow. Been awhile since I've played with Vpost though.

I somehow don't think it quite possible to see a purely post-process 2D effect in 3D. I know Cebas has a lensflare system that can act as a volumetric effect, thus being able to be seen in reflections. But using vpost or the effects window.. well.. I don't know how to make that happen.

I got it to work, you do indeed need raytraced reflections. I have the vpost set to only glow the effects id channel 1, of which my objects will glow when their materials are set to FX 1, now I'm not entirely sure whether it actually raytraces the object and its glow... or whether it just raytraces the object putting it in the reflection then simply adding glow to the object and the reflection... because that would not be a true raytrace of the glow. See what I mean? anyways it works fine for me. I haven't tested the integrity of the glow reflections yet though.

Ooh - interesting! I'm almost 100% sure that it's not a true reflection of the glow, simply becuase it's a post effect. But this is the first time I've heard of it working in reflections... Hooray!

:D

Not sure how it wants to figure up the reflection, but it does work. I went ahead and whipped this up to show what Ian was talking about.

Nothing more than a glowing sphere on top of a plane with raytraced reflections

I just did some more testing and it appears to just simply apply video post glow to the reflections rather than any sort of volumetric then raytrace. That is rather irritating unfortunately... but it is video POST. Maybe an enviroment reflection map would solve it or something? I'm newbie... don't know what I'm talking about really.

The Max raytracer merely reflects or refracts the materials ID, then lensFX applies a glow to this in the usual way. its a fudge,
but it does work.... sort of :)

So how would we get arond this? anyone have any solutions that dont require having to buy any third party plugins? d-loading of free ones would be ok. I would also like to know of any proper solutions aswell.

Any one have an idea how it could be done?
