When I adjust the graph editor to be larger on the screen, the curves tend to look a little coarse. Is there a preference somewhere to smooth them out?

I don't think so. This issue (if I understand you right) has been shortly discussed in this thread here (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=189482).

I'm beginning to seriously like this company! I thought that suggestion died long ago! That will be a REAL bonus for fast paced character animation where you still want to see the tensions etc even at 'frame' level!!!
