Hi, I just finished a technical modelling demo reel.
(360 Rotations of my latest characters)

You've propably already seen some of this character posted earlier here in the galeries...

I am curious to know what you think about this demo?

I decided to focus on my principal strenght : Modelling

So here is the result:

Looks nice. Straight and to the point. Good models too.

hi paranoy2k...
you made interesting modells and i think you're very skilled in modelling characters!
they looks really good!
but in my opinion is your demo reel not very good!
i think it's getting boring after the first three modells!
because they only rotate, then it go over from untextured to the wireframe every model!
o.k. i've read that this should be a modelling demo reel, but hey the presentation is very important in this case, because their are many talented modellers outside...so you should give your demo reel a personel touch i think....some interesting cuts...camera movements..or something like this! not to much, so that the main thing ; the modells; don't get lost but i think this could be a point that turns your good demo reel (of course it's good...because the things you show) to a real good demo reel!

Hi DXtreme,

I really thank you for your critics...Very constructive!
Unfortunatly, I had to made this demo reel in a really short amount of time (1 week or so including render and everything).

I took 1 week vacation to make a simple but effective reel that I could use as emergency exit. I'm so ****in tired of my current night job in a grocer market.

Anyway, you two guys just noticed I had good modelling skills so I just feel happy because that was the main idea of this reel.

yes i understand your problem...i work at night too!
sometimes very hard.......
and for only one week work the demo reel looks good.....

i'm lucky to add some costructive critique!
because this is the only way to get better.....
hope you'll get the response you expect for your demo reel!

It's evident you have really good modelling skills.. but now you could improve a little your demo-reel following the DXtreme's suggestions. Although it's quite good anyway... just one thing bother me... I'm not sure if it's the demo or my computer.. but theyre is some little jumps in the camera wich I don't like too much.
Anyway... good modelling!

note: what about do the inverse orden... so wire -> shaded -> textured...

I think it's all very good stuff. You have a nice style, and I think that it's a good reel. Simple, and to the point.

The only thing I would caution, is that in the future, take time to remove triangles in your high poly models. It was one of the first things I noticed. The smoothed wireshaded views show quite a mess in places.

All in all, though, I really have to commend you. You show a great artistic and creative eye. The little technical crap can be worked through, but you really do have the gift. If someone from a company watches your reel, they will see this.

I say good luck to you, if I was in a place to hire you, I would. For whatever that means to you.

very cool real. that second character's visor rocks my socks. actually, ya, it's all really good.

altho the 360 spin thing is kinda boring, i don't think it's that detrimental. the thing that bugs me the most is that the different versions of the model don't match when you cut. when you go from textured to non, make sure you get the rotation down to the frame so it's absolutely seemless. another thing, you might just want to dissolve between the 2 shots.

and i have to agree with pabbloz, i think it would be more effective going from wire to shaded to textured.

other than that, great job, good luck with it.
