While rotating around the viewport I accidentally slanted it, how do I undo this slant? Is there a way to focus it just as if you were in a brand new scene?

what is slanted?

edit.. rotating tool changed? just go to the lower right.. press the arc rotate select, and choose on of them, the middle is the one youll need.

That is definitely annoying. I don't know if there's a quick, direct solution for resetting the perspective view, but here's one way of getting things normal again:
Create a free camera somewhere. With your perspective viewport active, press 'c' to switch to the camera. Now press 'p' to switch back to the perspective. It doesn't always work right, but the perspective view should align itself to the view of the camera that you were in, effectively getting rid of any rotation you did to it.

right, but it will just snap to a slanted perspective view, anyway i wish there was a solution to resetting the perspective view within in the same modeling scene

edit: shit nvm, i just went to the FRONT view and then back to perspective and BAM

I just select the camera and reset its local rotation. bam. The transform type in even has a ROLL slider.

If it is still a perspective viewport dragging outside the arc rotate screen giz will enduce a ROLL.

The camera shouldn't snap to the perspective view if you're just drawing a free camera right on the grid; it should leave you with a camera pointing straight down, without any sort of roll.
It's wierd how that works with the front view, though. Sometimes the perspective will switch, and sometimes it won't.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but try pressing Shift+Z... it's the view undo shortcut.
Also accessible under View->Undo (could be wrong, don't have max running ATM).

What about using the View>Save Active View command? Then just restore the view. I'm still using max 3, so I'm not sure if that command is available in the newer versions of max. Between that and what Rens suggested you should be covered. :)
