Great image but wrong forum. Should be in the finished 2D gallery.
Anyways, the painting is very abstract with a unique style. I love the color choice. That is one big octopus :)

This is wonderful, I love the colour balance and the "pencils" are awesome. There's something kind of Cthulhu like about the octopus, don't know if this was intentional in anyway, but it works! I feel there are so many contrasts in this image that it almost animates itself!

Reminds me of 'the wave' (hokusai). Did you intend that?? Either way, it looks great and I really liked the colours in it!
How long did you take to paint it??

If you are looking for crit i think the pose on the girl feels incredibly unnatural... perhaps it would help if her head were thrown back a little bit.

I was so surprise when I see this in 3D section.
It's like unbelievable!
But anyhow it's still a great job for 2D!

How didn't you get the 1st place in this contest?? It's a very good piece. Good colors and drawing
very beautiful and dynamic picture, i like it a lot.
halfway between Hokusai and the french art déco illustrations/affichisme. This cannot be bad :)

No need for the nakedness  and panties, other than that, very intriguing style, hmm very interesting, pretty cool :thumbup:also nice emotion of motion. Kind of makes me think of illuminated stories but not... it's different. cool stuff
If you had different contrast on the girl, it would look almost like an illuminated piece or chinese style artwork, otherwise now it looks like a teenage mutant ninja cartoon (well no, lol) but i still love it :D It's quite cool.
I like the gentle background much like chinese artwork, i love that.. and the monster looks lke the contrast between the gentlness... however the girl kind of stands out in a different light almost like a parody of the traditional. None the less still cool :)
*end rant* :)

Great colors, and I really like the method you used in particular. The composition also works really well.
In terms of critique - the girl's pose does look a bit unnatural - it's a bit unclear as to what she's doing (is she flying, or getting thrown around?) Also, you skimped a bit on the folds of her skirt, especially the front. I'd put some more linework into there to keep it from reading as a flat shape.
The octopus is awesome, easily my favorite part of the picture. However there's a few spots where there's just a bit too much black, which could esily be substituted with a part of tentacle - I'm referring specifically to the two spots on the bottom quarter of the drawing.
Also, the two bottom lily-pad/leaf things in the lower part of the drawing need a blackline of some sort. At least around the outside. Right now the big green spots sort of punch holes into the drawing. I think if you used black lines instead of darker green ones, it would push them much more into the foreground. The one farther back in the composition you can get away with, because it's behind the octopus.
These are all fairly minor problems, all in all I really like this piece, and you used a great color pallette.

Oh man, your waves, i guess it's just a known style, but they remind me that japanese designer, Tadanori Yokoo (http://w00.middlebury.edu/ID085A/postwar/gallery3.html), and especially this poster of him (http://w00.middlebury.edu/ID085A/gallery/postwar/mishima.jpg). I really like what u've done there, very nice colors and composition, and the pose of that girl, really nice - very streaming and very unique for CGtalk (take a look of what is going on here, it's always welcome less common styles).

didn'tget back to here for a long time as i have canceled this thread, i didn't know this thread still exist. Until now...
Geronimo- Glad you like it man. I will post more if i got any new pictures hahahh currently no.lol
bad dogz- Thanks people are friendly here...still i wanna get some kick ass critique not too much ass patting. nice to hear from you man.
dot Tom- hey no cthulhu there never heard of that in my life mind me i am really clueless and new to it. thanks for commenting man.
paperclip- yeah man go hokusai go...about 2 days i guess. on and off man.
nathellion- thanks.
grundgedanke- just to repeat again THANKS
onlooker- hahahah no spiderman here though just octopus.
yolk- i dunno either but we will find out soon hahaa
mmkelly011881- well it helps dude i will keep that in mind.lotta people comment about the hands but you are the first on head. I will remember you
`dreams- thanks man yupe it's in 2D too i finally figured out how to post in 2Dnow hahhahh.Mind me cause i am new here.
gudi3d- well the only explanation for this is..... the guy who won is damn good. i love his stuff too. maybe morphine here could explain he is from eatpoo forum too.
e338- thanks man hokusai indeed. actually i am looking more of a james jean that guy rocks man. i got lots of inspiration from james jean. ANy james jean fans here?
gigatron- i am more to the eastern type of illustrating as it plays with balance of simple flat shapes which i find more interesting. i like to experiment with more patterns instead of life like feature involving real perspective. As for the girl's underwear actually i intended it... this create a kind of nakedness to the subject which gives a vunarable character to it. I don't do nakedness for nothing, hope you understand. Frankly I kinda like nakedness too hahhahaahah pervert me.
future14- Thanks, glad you like it.
shtl- thanks for falling for her. She loves you.
ThePumpkinKing- thanks man.
Kahlan Amnell- thanks.
Bijarts- hope you like it.
Flatuloso- Yeah her hand seems to creat a bit of problem there in recognizing the overall figure shape...it looks like she is having 2 bunny ears from a distance hahah. The octopus head got inspired by shoelaces when i tied my shoe hahahah. The leaf- good point there.
kmest- the pose yeah.. thanks man.
Artist 3D- ohhhhh thanks man for reminding me about him Tadanori Yokoo (http://w00.middlebury.edu/ID085A/postwar/gallery3.html) i kinda lost his works i had on a project i did long ago. thanks for giving the link there is lots of good stuffs there man.
tzktime- ohhhh...Malaysian here hahahah terima kasih banyak-banyak.cemerlang, gemilang,...temberang.
Morphine - oh yeah man!good to see you here. mmmm waht you up to?!
zenigeva- thanks.
-OZ-glad you like it.

It's a submition for a comic cover competition for an online forum.
it reminded me, before i read the text, on a comic cover. so i think you did a very good job on that. I personally don't like the style very much. but thats just a personal opinion.

Wonderful!
When someone tries to do an illustration in this style, they often date their content back to medieval China... Not you.
There is something really fresh about your work despite its classical charm. Have you thought of marketing yourself on the London scene? I believe that with certain fashion houses at the moment, you could stand to make alot of money doing advertising work. Your lines and colours are not the norm. :)
