Hi All,

I had to re-install Maya PLE the other day...all was working well....then i turned on my PC the next morning and my display has been (annoyingly!!!!!!!) crippled to 800 X 600 and 4 colours!!!! :thumbsdow

Its inoperable...

I am running a PC with Win XP Pro and my Grafix card is an ASUS8440 Ti4400 GeForce 4...

The pc recognises the card, but has the following error:

The device could not be started (Code 10)

Any clues/help would be appreciated!!!

PS: anyone know of a link to show currently supported grafix cards for Maya

Cheers guys n gals!!!

That card supports Maya fine. It isn't certified by AW because there are extensions it doesn't support, but it will run Maya great. Try removing any installed drivers, making sure the card is properly seated in the slot, and reinstall the newest drivers. If that doesn't work, you can try to reinstall Windows, but it might be better to see if you can exchange the card with the place of purchase, or get a warranty replacement from Asus. I had a card do something similar, all of the sudden iit only ran at 800x600x16 using a dayglo color pallette. It turned out the card was faulty.

I just dug this out of the Windows Knowledgebase.

CODE 10

If the device has a "FailReasonString" value in its hardware key, that string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator places this registry string value there. If there is no "FailReasonString" in the hardware key, the following generic error message is displayed:
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have
all the drivers installed. (Code 10)

Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.

Solution button: Update Driver

To resolve this error code, make sure the device is connected to the computer correctly. For example, make sure all cables are plugged in fully and that all adapter cards are properly seated. Follow the suggested solution button and update the device driver. It may be possible to remove the device and redetect it using the Add New Hardware wizard.

I don't think Maya was the problem. Give it another shot. Is it possible your computer wasn't shut down properly or something?

yeah...i hope it wasn't Maya ;) but i traced back lots of things that i had done...and ive pretty much narrowed it down to Maya...but...in saying that....i am online always...so it may have been a virus or something.....

Ill see how i go...

Cheers for all your help :)
