final at the moment, i will add more creatures and character in the forground at some time when i finished the modelling.
i changed a little bit the clouds and didn't use a filter as seen in the older scene and of course i added a ship in the forground.
the hi-res image will follow. critiques please.

it's nice...but those white things on the railings/fence aren't looking nice.....good work:)
and yeah the buildings too are very nice...well done...
:) Your modeling is solid - but your image lacks texture and depth
If you played with your lighting some more - I think it would add alot :)

nice work so far.i like the concept but i think it could use some tweaks.
i think the tube lighting segments in the foreground are too long and become distracting.
the dog also rips my eye toward it, taking my attention away from the tender moment between the parent bot and its child.
try really pumping up the geometry and texture detail for the bridge, bots and closest flying craft. that will really help sell the distant objects.
i like the distant lighting but the foreground lighting needs some work.
don't get me wrong, i like your image. i just feel that with a little mor effort that you can put it over the top. keep ot goin!

This is a good image that can be a GREAT image with some few tweaks.
The first impression I get is that the lighting of the first plane is different from the background it seems a lot more saturated and the light seems to have different color, also the blacks are very deep you should use a fill light in the scene, thats very noticeable in the higher tube ....
Keep working on lighting :wip:

i think the background alone is excellent. kind of feels like the foreground was just pasted onto it though.
great work all around in any case. keep on pluggin!
i like how you layered the Background and the foreground(?)...
but the ship with the blue stuff is n bit too dark... looks like it belongs to the foreground...
You could work a bit on the main focus... at the moment the eye jumps around all the time... the Ship (dark spot on light BG) the Dog and the white Lights(White Spots on dark BG) and then the humaniod robots (intressting dark form on light BG).
Overall it looks good... the robots are a bit to simple for me... but i really like this SW mood in the picture...

thanks for replys.
i will work hard to make the pic looks better.
first, i changed the colour for the forground, then i added a motion blur effect to the transporter and brighten it. i added a secong transporter in the forground, also with motion blur. at the moment, i work on the lights in the forground, make them smaller.
i work on lighting too, but that needs more time.

Just one thing.
I kind of find it hard to belive a metal robot to grow from childhood to adult stage.
I do like the dog
its a good concept
apart from that, nothing to say execept "AMAZING"
and I do like the secon imagem better!
very good
i change the atmosphere effect and worked on the depth effect.
i experience with partikel for a better atmosphere effect. added more detail in the foreground. the global lighting effect is the same, 2 more fill lights more. critiques please.

yeah this last pic looks very good! excellent evolution on these images, I like it! I definitely preferthe blue ambient light over the rest, and the foreground brightness is way better..
Whats this scene for? only a still or are you going to make an animation out of this scene?
Anyways, excellent work!

I love the shot... but it needs just one little thing to bring it to life.
I think you need a small amount of Depth of Feild... and I mean really minimal... it will take the CG look out of it and may more like real world.
nothing is ever purely focued... at least in dealing with film...
nice job.

Man you really upgraded the pic
The new color scheme makes it more lifelike...... great!!!
thanks for critiques,
i will work more on the depth effect, but this is really a hard thing.
the ships, perhaps i will add more, but i must modell more first.

i only try to changed the depth effect. i added a camera focus effect, the camera now fix a point in the middel of the pic, i hope this increase the depth effect. critiques and helps please, this isn't easy
:applause: Dude - Huge improvment - well done!:applause:

I really like your work, don't get me wrong. But I have strong reservations about the use of DOF in your latest pic. i think the effect is waaaay to heavy. Best bet would be to take a 35 mm camera out and take a picture of some senery that imitates the distances youre implying here... Ie focusing on a city with people 25 ft in front of you. It seems to me the foreground/background would be much closer in focus (not perfect of course)
@JasonA:
i know the dof isn't really god, i will work more on this problem, your critiques helps me alot.
here i made little changes again. i will now increase the distance between the buildings and i hope this will looks better, but first this...
i fine tune the dof effect again, but i think i make it more bad by the time... . i use photos as reference, i hope i "find it".
i worked more on the image the last days. first, forget the last two posted pics, only experiments (not really good). i changed the windows light textures on some buildings, overworked a bit the building in the front right, replace the buildings in the middle with another and added a second new in the behind the new middle building. i also added highlight glow on two buildings.
for the future i will overwork the clouds a bit and perhaps add more detail to some buildings. critiques please...
this is the final image
i will not work on the file again. i changed little things , eg glows and colour, now i can make another project.
It's very pretty :)
Even though you've finished it now...
I liked it better when it was tinted orange. Also, there isn't really a focal point in the picture. It seems a little sparse. It reminds me of the Fifth Element city (loads of other stuff similar) and they brilliantly filled the skies with flying vehicles. It was also more densely packed with buildings, which was nice and shown the progression of time and how with each day, there's another building going up.
That's all really, but it's just my preference. Great job!
It could just be me but the monorail track is confusing. It has a support beam line up perfectly with a piece of the bridge. It's hard to tell the difference between the two objects. Like how it's progressed though. Nice work.
I really like the way you used the DOF now. But hey, where´s the dog? bring it back into the pic, maybe place it in the middle :)
@ hec:
it isn't a monorail, its a ship and the railing of the plattform, bed placement of the ship.
by the way i try various things for a more intensive depth effect, i rework the effect complete at the time, will post it later.

Hey KZin, nice work! Its always great to see an image evolve, and you've done an excellent job. I played with the final in my compositing app a bit, tried to break up the colors - I think if you went towards warm highlights / cool shadows or vice versa, it'd liven things up a touch. Anyway, just a different take on it, keep at it!

I really really really like this pic man! Great work, and i must say i'm a bit jealous, because i tried to do something like this some time ago and i totally filed, but you have succeded! My congratulations to you!
I do like the pic with a lot of DOF most, the later two or three didn't really catch my mind. I think it's because its a bit too much blur in the borders of the picture and a little too little in the middle, if u know what i mean.
I agree with Anthony that you should add some more warm colours but in that case in the original model and not by compositing like he did.
Well well.. gotta see your other worka s well later on...
first, thanks for your ciriques and helps,
the dof effect i work on is now more realistic, because i direct render the dof effect for the new version (for the other images it was post effect) and so the dof is now more "regular" and looks better and "sharper". perhaps i change the colour a little bit.
@tek:
the dog will return :)
