Hey everyone! I finally had a small break in my continuous flow of projects and was able to work on my animation for a few hours. I know the Feb contest is over but I still want to finish this. I've worked all the way up to "orange in hue" I've looked at his gestures after "orange in hue" and I kinda like their timing as they are. I just have to work on the trasition from his "hue" gesture to his next one. What do you guys think?

Hey everyone! I really like this next up-date. I've learned so much today as well as yesterday about the graph editor and it shows in my work. I own my newly aquired knowledge to my new friend, who taught me how to use Maya more efficiently, and looks at my work and crits it in real time. Anyway, here's the up-date, please let me know what you guys think: http://studentpages.scad.edu/~jcofer20/10sec2ndtryblast7.avi (http://studentpages.scad.edu/~jcofer20/10sec2ndtryblast7.avi)

Hey everyone! I'm still working on the lip sync for this. Someone on the 10 sec club site suggested that I include some holds rather than having him move so much. My friend said I should have a hold when the guy says "hue". He also came up with having the guy lift his head like he's howling. I'm still working on that part, but here's what I have so far: http://studentpages.scad.edu/~jcofe...ndtryblast8.avi (http://studentpages.scad.edu/~jcofer20/10sec2ndtryblast8.avi)

jocelyn,

it's looking really nice. the only crits i have are when he says, "...hate you and all your kind." i'd hold the pose he hits on "...hate you..." until he says, "...your kind." at which point i'd have him go into the pose you have there now. The motion you have right now between those two poses is really bad, which is weird cuz pretty much everything else is working really nicely.

the other crit i have, is when he says, "...orange in hue." his movement is WAY too big for the nature of the sound clip. maybe if he was yelling, it would work. it's just too big a movement for someone who's using their "inside voice". :) i'd go with something a little less overacted. something that fits with the sound byte.

and also, when he says, "....and may your head fall....." As he's standing up straight his head almost wigs out for a second... his head should just come up straight into the pose.

but all in all, you obviously have most of the movement working really well. keep at it!

Capel, I'm sorry I didn't see your post before playblasting that. I'll open Maya and fix those things that you pointed out. Thanks so much for your help though! I really appreciate it! :D

Chapel, I am a little confused. I have deleted the frames for when he goes from his "hate you" pose to the "all your kind" pose. I'll have him hold his "hate you" pose until after he says "your kind". My question is are you saying for him to go from that pose into the "may you be turned orange..." pose? I think thats what you ment cause I dont know how I'd fit the "your kind" pose in there between the other two...

wow, it's looking a lot better. good stuff. when he says "...and all your kind." You're translating the root node in the Y direction, which is working fine, but i'd get rid of the hip rotation as he's rising. it looks strange. the only other thing i'd say is that the pose on "...orange in hue." doesn't really read. I can't tell what he's doing. Like if i saw a real person doing that, it would confuse me.

but that said, everything else is really working well. especially the end. Good work. keep it comin!

Thanks so much for your help Capel! :scream: I really appriciate your efforts, it's hard to get help with this stuff for some reason . I've corrected the things you've pointed out. http://studentpages.scad.edu/~jcofer20/10sec2ndtryblast10.avi

hey jocelyn. it just keeps getting better!

i did notice that when he says, "...orange in hue." his right foot is sliding out and then back in. i'd lock that down or have the foot step out, then step back in. i'd also change the "...orange in hue." poses. they're still not reading for me.

but that said, this piece looks 150 percent better, imho. everything else other than what i mentioned looks ready for final, i'd say. good stuff!

Thanks again for you help Capel! I am having trouble with the orange in hue part. My friend had suggested having the character look like he's howling like a wolf when he says hue. My problem is I dont know what a good way to have him go from the all your kind pose to the howling. Do you have any suggestions?
