Hi y'all

I changed a name in my referenced file of a control curve, and now the animation is gone in the file that is referencing the other file. Of course it cant find the curve because it has a different name, but is it possible to recconnect the names somehow.

Othersise whats the point of referencing if you cant make changes to the file being referenced?

Thanks.

Not that it'll help much now, but one way to guard against these problems is to place anything you'll want to animate in a character set in the referenced file (i.e. make sure the character set is also in the referenced file). That way when node names are changed, the referencing file doesn't care because the character set hasn't changed.

In terms of your current scene, if you've saved as mayaAscii, you might be able to open up the file and replace all occurences of the old node name with the new node name. If you had renamed your control curve from "curve1" to "newCurve", you'd open your referencing file and replace all occurences of "curve1" with "newCurve". Depending on the scene this may or may not work.
