View Full Version : Demo Reel 2005
bawhabmw 03-04-2005, 04:23 AM Well this is it. My whole life I have been going to school, and I'm sure the learning will never end. In a week I will be stepping out of this one stage of my life and into the world of animation, God willing. So without further ado, I present you my demo reel for critique. Any feelings, thoughts, suggestions would be very much appreciated. I just want this reel to be the very best it can be at this point in my "career."
Thanks!

Hi Ben,
I really like your reel, especially scenes with the alien on the planet. I loved the animation for those shots.
I would cut the second part of the first scene with the man, where he steps forward and gestures, as I don't think it's as strong as the motion in the first part of that scene. On the part where he leans back with his arms outstretched, the animation sort of dies for a moment--I would add a little bit of a moving hold in there.
Also, if it were me, I wouldn't include the 2d animation, because I feel it kind of takes away from the flow of the reel (also I don't think it's quite as good as the rest of your work).
For the last shot where your character is dancing, it might be better to have a stationary camera and maybe from a different angle to see more clearly what's going on.
I'm not sure if companies like to see your flat portfolio work added to the end of your reel. It might be better to send an actual hard copy portfolio along with your reel if you really want to include it (I may be wrong, I'm not sure :))
Keep in mind this is just my opinion. :) I hope it helps a little though.
