Hello again folks!

Thought it was about time i posted something again.
This is my latest head model.
Thinkin' of turning him into a deranged preacher later on.

His eyebrows look rather thin(if you can spot them at all :) I shamelessly stole them from George W Bush. Gonna make em stronger soon. Everything else is handpainted/procedurals.

C&C welcome.

Well, well. Here goes...

The last image is an old version of him with some gear for the current challenge. Lets see if i can make something out of this. (Wish i had more time)

Well well, im off to bed now!

Don't forget to gimme some comments now.

true true ...

i love the Lamp idea with the on/off switch ... the Texture around the Neck is a bit pulled, and one of the first characters ear is funny ... The textures however are divine

your work is total greatness as i couldnt do better myself ...

hey, that is a great render in the first two shots. what was your lighting setup?

Yeah, great. I would love to see some tutorials on how you do your textures (hint hint). I think the only thing that could use a little texture work are the whites of the eyes. Especially if he is going to be deranged. Good work though.:D

Thanks for all the comments and critique!

I have always considered myself to be a lousy texturemapper, now people want me to write tutorials about it :) Sure I'll put something togther for y'all! But really its all about airbrushing.

humm... the light setup:

See for yourself. If the link is dead then come back in a little while. You see it is placed on my computer at home, maybe it'll freeze or something while im torturing it with renders from work :)
But usually its up.

I'll do something about his horrible ears... Cant really get a hang of 'em. And I'll check his eye-textures...

Ill be back with updates shortly so check back :)
Only problem is that im in a creative period at the moment. New ideas pop up all the time! Cant keep my mind on one for long enough to make something of it :(

well well... back to max and modelling :) maybe youll have something new to comment tonite'(swedish time) :)

Gah... im dead tired.

Gonna be more dead when i "wake up" tomorrow :)... oh.. its been "today" for an hour now... up in five hours...

Well new ears. They are not perfect but what the hell.. better than the last ones anyway. The attachment is really bad, fixin it tomorrow.

You cant make me do it now. :)

nice work, good texturing

Hehe... maybe because all the good artist in the US is employed and dont have time for personal work :)

humm... I wouldnt really call this art. mainly beacause im not trying to express something with it. Its more like carbon copying the world as well as i can. When i turn him into a real living character, for example when i turn him into "lester - the deranged preacher", infernally smiling with the cross in one hand hangin in a string made of mysteriosly dissapereared choir boys teeth and hair and a blood stained pickaxe in the other, it will probably be art. :)

Hey, pretty cool texturing.
Have to ask - what mapping method did you use? Did you do a spherical unwrap on it?
You must watch out for that pulling on the neck texture (that often happens with atlas / spherical mapping *growl*)
The eyes are great too. How do you get them to look so jelly-like? Do you use translucency? Or subsurface scattering?

Leigh:

yeah its spherical mapping. the neck is going to be covered by a high necked shirt(priest stylee) so i wont put a lot of effort on it.

This is standard max scanline. no fancy tricks :)

humm... jelly like? do you mean the eyeballs?

then, the material has a kind of irregularily/noiselike shininess map and bump. And there is some raytraced reflections on the cornea and the white.

if there is enough demand i can put up the eye and its textures for you to download. Just ask.

Not that I think its all that great, but i maybe apply the texture in a non-normal way :) well well.

How did u make the eyes(more details)??The cornea is really great.

Nice work guy, continue so :D

but I believe than you must give more power to the bump, it need porosity, around all the face, now is very soft.

And also need , reflection in the eyes and transparency.

Keep up it :p
