hey guys,

Im doing a outdoor render..and im having a shadow jitter problem..and some grains also..tried to rectify it..but could not..my settings for final gathering are
min sample - -1 max sample 1
jitter-on
maxtrace depth -4 shadow depth -3
fg rays -1200
min -1.25
max 12.5

the rest are default settings for mental ray
i have used raytrace shadows of directional light

any suggestions on how to reduce the jitter of shadows and grains?

is your light a MR Area light, or just a regular maya light? if it's an area light it might help your shadows to turn up the sampling.

its a regular maya light with raytrace shadows?do u want me to change to area light..
pls give an option which could change it?

Try uping your sampling min/max from -1,1 to 0/2 also cahnge the RGBA values from 1.0 to 0.5. That should help with Grainyness at a cost of some render time
