View Full Version : Maya in Linux- the "Alt" problem
anandpg 03-03-2005, 04:15 AM Hi!
I am just trying out maya 6 in Linux... The Alt key doesnt seem to be working.... ie, I dont get to use the camera tools when I press the Alt key, as in Windows. How do you do it? If there is anybody out there using maya in linux, please help.
thanks.

This is because by default Linux is set-up to map the Alt key to dragging the active window that is under your pointer around the desktop. You need to navigate to your window preferences and tell Linux to use "Super (Windows Logo)" for dragging the window instead of the Alt key. Exactly where this setting is located is different for every distro of Linux so if you can let us know what Linux distro you are using maybe someone with that same distro can give you click-by-click instructions.
For Fedora Core 2 it's located under "Red Hat > Preferences > Windows".
