Hey all-

Im stumped I was wondering if there is any way to load a maya scene into messiah? I can load a lightwave scene just fine but I cannot seem to figure out how to load a maya scene. Can anyone help with this? I noticed the maya scene is saved as a .mb which isn't one of the file types that messiah shows it is capable of opening (at least on mine) . Is there some way to fix this if this is the problem?

Thanks for you help!

okay basically what I want to eventually do is this. I want to take a pre-existing skeleton from maya and bring it and the motion captured animation data attatched to it into messiah and tweak the animation in there rather than maya. Is this possible?

I don't think this is possible. If you want to use a Maya skeleton, your best option is either Maya or Motionbuilder.

Unfortunately, messiah doesn't support FBX which restricts the interchange with other programs. However, messiah does import BVH and HTR mocap files. So if you have your data in one of these formats, you could bring them to messiah, tweak them there and bring the motion back to Maya using the MEL script converter in Mark Wilson's Point Oven plug-in.

Mark Wilson's Point Oven plug-in? Hmmm. I just discovered the BVH and HTR info reading through the documentation and figured thats what I would have to do, but is this "Poin Oven plug-in" the only way to get it back into Maya? I really don't know anything about it I will have to look into it. Thanks for the heads up though that will save some time tomorrow if it doesn't work out initially I will know directly where to go. Thanks

If your mocap data is exportable through BVH format, you can open that inside messiah, which will build the skeleton for you(bvh contains your skeleton)

if you have a copy of lightwave, you can use the FBX export from maya to LW and save the lightwave scene, which opens up inside Messiah as-is.

hope this helps.
