View Full Version : Batch Render wont Batch render

So i believe i have everything setup correctly, name.#.ext my camera is set to renderable and so on.
I click Batch render and it says

Result: Rendering with Maya Software...

and that’s it, first time i said let me keep it overnight maybe i needs its time, nothing, not even one image, and no file progress or anything. Just keeps saying that its rendering, but nothing happens.

I downloaded Smedge, got it all configed and that does the same thing. I moved the whole project to my shared folder and still wont do it. I checked folder properties and unchecked read-only and hit apply, but when i go back to it , it checks it again.

This is driving me crazy, if turned off my firewall, uninstalled it and installed a different version, still nothing.

It’ll render a single image, but no batch.
Hope someone can help, i sure am running out of time.

Thanks in advance.

youve set start and end frame right?
Check the status when you have started batchrendering (Render/shopw batch render) and tell me what it says

Yeah start and end frames are set, and when i hit show batch render :

// Result: Rendering with Maya Software... //
// Result: No image file to show current rendering //

it doesnt even start to do anything, im starting to suspect some network setting are the problem, but i cant find what it is, this is crazy...id like to know how others have their networks set up..

Yes, check your start and end frame. Aslo, try setting the format to targa (.tga) or something. It will render images. Also what renderer are you using? Software? Mental Ray?

Ive had somewhat of a similar problem in which as soon as I started to render about a second later it would say rendering complete. The fix was to open a new scene, import the old scene and adjust the render globals. Importing a scene into a new one does wonders sometimes. Its worth a try.

I finally figured it out, it wasn’t till i completely uninstalled ZoneAlarm that batchrender started working.

And i did find the changes needed to be done in order to have ZoneAlarm not effect it, u have to click on imf_editor.exe in the ZoneLabs folder (C:/program file/zonelabd/zonealarm) and uncheck java and wrapper and maya of the blacklist.

Real bizarre that its hidden in there.

Thanks for everyone’s help though.

THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!

I was going mental trying to figure out the same problem! HOURS i spent trying to get it to work, wondering why the batch render worked so perfectly last month (before i had installed Zone Alarm)

I joined this forum especially to say thank you

I'm having this exact same problem, but I don't have zone alarm. Is it possible that it could be something to do with my norton internet security b/c I know that I had to set my firewall settings to low in-order to access the maya help menu/help server. At the moment b/c I can't get the batch render to work I'm just using a script in the script editior to render my animation and that seems to work, but I'd really like to get the batch render working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I also had this happen to me last night. It was frustrating because I was sitting next to someone who was having no problem batch rendering in Maya 7. The computer I was on had tons of security software installed (that makes it slow and crappy), but batch render still worked on older versions of maya. I don't know about this new maya 7 yet...

I had the same troubles getting batch render to work...I disabled Norton internet security, and the batch render worked fine...All I can say is WTF! how frustrating.

I had the same problem with one of my PC's rendering one frame and stopping. I was stumped until I came here and found this. This computer has Norton installed, but I have it set up so it shouldn't be running in the background. I ended up opening the task manager, and nprotect.exe was actually running in the process list. I just killed it with an end task and now I can batch render again.

Thanks for the heads up, I might actually get my project finished on time now.

sry to hijack this thread but I'm on the same boat..can't get batch render on maya 7 to work. I'm on osx so no firewall here. Single frame renders fine however batch render show only infamous Rendering Completed. See Console for more information. Does anyone have any great suggestion? I have a project due in like 8 hours when I have to export simple animation for client and I'm getting nuts over how to get this thing work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Okay, have you double checked EVERYTHING to make sure that you've correctly set an output directory, file format and frame range?

If all else fails, ensure that everything is set up correctly in the scene file, save the scene, shut down Maya and execute a command line render.

That's interesting. I wonder if this is similar to the problem Norton would have with LightWave's Hub - Norton would think that the software was trying to act like a server, so it would prevent it from running.

EDIT: I HAVE TRASHED ALL THE PREFERENCES AND THAT FIXED MY PROBLEM. WORKS LIKE CHARM NOW.

thanx for your help but I checked everything zillion times and nothing..if I provide a sample scene could someone perhaps take a look at it if it's renderable the way I have it setup??

Thanks

I'd love to help you out but it's after 2am and I don't have Maya at home. Good luck though, I hope someone can help you out in time!
