Thought I'd post this for comments. This was actually one of my first characters I'd ever created. (I've been teaching myself Maya for the last few months)
Love to hear comments/critique on it.

Although this should go in the 3d W.I.P forums, but oh well.

Looks like a good use of primitives, especially for a first character.

I like the texture work on the robot and the proportioning all looks like he works physically. The paint really does look chipped

My critique is based on the surface plane and the extensive use of blur. The brick texture is nice but is desperately crying out for a bump map or something to give it some height in the Y - direction. As it looks right now, the robot looks weightless and unplanted upon the flat brick texture. The addition of a bump map or to even physically model the bricks would help to make the robot look more anchored down.

The blur is a nice effect in moderation. However in this particular piece, it's a little distracting from the main piece ... especially given that the robot is in still - form.

Good work overall!

He has a funny look, or maybe i'm very tired from a whole day of rendering and tweaking but i think it's a nice work :)
