View Full Version : Over 6 hours per frame, phew!
No, it does not even have radiosity, caustics or volumetric lighting!
I guess the ExplosionFX and 25x Scene Motion Blur make the scene rather slow to render...
Here is a (low-quality to keep the size under 50KB) screenshot from this morning when the 1.7GHz P4 machine had rendered a bit over 25 hours and had just managed to create the fourth frame..
Of course I have already thought of various ways to make it look better, but I am not going to spend the next couple of weeks rendering the same frames again! :hmm:
Just thought you might find this amusing... :D

i like it. tho what exactly is getting blown up and why ?
Sorry, forgot to mention that... Bad Pate :wip:
There is a Sith Infiltrator (from Star Wars) spaceship that has shot at a larger ship that explodes, while the Sith ship flies thru the debris cloud.

hmm whats the AA and are there reflective materials?
With 25 SMB you don't need good AA, and if things are reflectives, well many tiny reflective objects reflecting off each other can really slow it down.

I would cut the scene motion blur down from 25x and increase the amount....also add a motion blur tag to increase the amount of blurring...does that work for sceneMB, Kai?

Are you by any chance trying to compete with PDI? I heared they rendered a frame some between 4 to 8 hours. No, no i think you have beaten them! Because they were rendering it at 2K or duoble that while yours is what 800x600?:)
Whats up brother? I think you should be more stingy with time dude. No, i don't find it amusing at all dude. B more practicle friend.

I have Geometry AA turned on (as it was on during the rest of the scene that I rendered on either 5x or 9x SMB, and switching it off caused a noticeable change).
There are some reflective objects on the scene, this is something I hadn't thought of...
I cannot use anything less than 25x SMB, as there are so many fast moving objects. That will cause an annoying stroboscope effect. Of course if I lowered the SMB strength (currently at 33%) it might help...
Well, I am using 3 PCs to render this scene and there is only a second or so (25 frames) to go, so only a few days worth of rendering to do... The size is 720x576, derelict. I guess I have beaten PDI, then. :)
But hey, I'm still just learning C4D, and wanted to see how such an overly heavy scene renders... Next time I'll try to optimize things better, I promise!

hi again!
Finland use PAL? So, i'm surprised D1 is used there.:)
All the best in your undertaking, dude! Any thoughts of using can particles for the scene you're using?
