You just have to use regular shaders or MR shaders when using Ox with MR. The Oxhair shaders aren't compatible with MR.

I don't get it why people buy plugins and then don't take the time to figure out how to use it, I mean, common, it comes with a manual doesn't it ??

maybe because i'm not a professional modeler and animator like you and i just download the demo version and i'm starting with max?? could be that the answer?? maybe read the manual and understand it is very easy for you because you know what does it mean and have he experience.
well...i'll wait if someone alse can answer this....there are many people there more comprehensive than you....so.....i'll wait...........i'm waiting................

The shader I used was just a basic Studio Max shader. I have 2 lights with Final Gathering on. Forgive me if you already know this, but make sure you use the Ox Mental Ray Hair helper inorder for Ox to communicate with Mental Ray (which translates the hair into what Mental Ray can understand), under the Create Tab -> Geometry -> (pull down menu) EPHERE Ornatrix -> MR Hair

I'm a newbie to using Ornatrix myself, so there may be better ways of doing this. Hope this helps somewhat.

Looking at Jeff's link will give you more detailed information, but you just need to add a Ox Render Settings to your stack for your hair under the Modify tab and set it the the thickness you desire, which has a global radius setting and a hair strand cross section that you can edit.
One thing I have noticed rendering Ox hair in MR, is that you'll have to drastically crank up your Anti-aliasing in-order to achieve smooth results.

impressive result :applause:. thanks!!!
when you talk about A/A settings you mean "samples per pixel"?? it's the only thing that i found that 1/14, 16 or numbers like that......or is it something else?? sorry to bother so much but i don't know anything about this kind of stuff......i just follow the tutorials.....

Correct. For the image that I rendered above, I cranked up the AA to 64/256 to get the smooth results that I wanted. Of course in the image, the hair is super fine so it'll require more AA and I'm also rendered 2K images. So that does have alot to do with. You'll just have to slowly move the AA up until you get the desired results.
Warning though, ornatrix is addictive. Once you get a handle on it, you'll be putting hair on everything. :D
