Hi, all! This is my first post in the WIP/Critique section. In this image I wanted to represent a robot looking at the sky, looking like it has consciousness, human feelings and so on...
Don't mind that the scene is unfinished pls.

Any ideas, suggestions, critiques to improve the model, the scene (lights, render...) are really welcome! :wavey:

misho_st,

The pelvis looks a bit blocky atm, theres no joint/mechanism where it meets the spine.

Good start though!

Ok, here's a sample scene I created. It changes the mood a lot...

First i was impressed how the robot was looking at the sky. this was enough for me to see the robot was thinking about something, like a silent asked question to something like good or the endless universe.
but than i saw the robot was on his knee. (because still i had to scroll. my screen resolution is 1600 to 1200 quite huge for viewing web contens. you should restrict the image resolution to fit into this site's layout). maybe the pose is a bit overdone. Personaly i liked this calm quiet begging.

For the rest there are quite good samples of how to make a robot look human like and let the plastic and metal look crisp on this site.

But nevertheless this image has something. I appreciate this slightly sorry look of the face.

The robot looks to, well, empty. The spine shows, but there is no visible means of equipment to act as muscle would in a human. I guess that it is your intention to make more changes to the anatomy, but I am wondering at the same time, because you're bothering at this point with scenery. The robot looks quite incomplete at this point.

The robot looks good but I think that the background could be a bit stronger or the texture of the robot could look a bit more used. Overall the model is good.

And this is an image of the robot, let's say, having an upgreat... I might put in in the field scene, though it is giving my PC a hard time...

Hi misho_st,
i like the camera position in the first picture. It was like you were standing next to him.
I also preferred the less bright lightnig. It looked more like if he sufferd.
But this is only my opinion and maybe the Robot is not sorrow over beeing concious.

I would like to know what your aim is for the picture.

The conifers are a bit to small compared to the trees behind.

I'm looking forward to see more updates.

Hi PSD! Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I'm pretty busy....

If I have any update I will post it in this thread.

A thing I can share is that my main inspiration to create the "conscious robot" is the short film "ROBOTA"...
