View Full Version : Mac issues with selecting objects
obscurity 03-02-2005, 02:15 PM Just received our new dual 2.5 PowerMac.
Tesing out cinema on it, and came across a rather serious problem.
I can't seem to drag anything in the interface (be it a point in the viewfinder) or items in the object manager.
Has anyone experienced this?
Currently unable to do anything in the app!

Yeah, same as kromekat, all good on my dual g5s....
Are you using a tablet? If so then check your preferences. If not then I dunno what's going on. My R9 on G5 2.5 no problems...

Try the various OGL options (Software, Hardware Lighting etc) in Preferences to see if the problem occurs with all settings or if it can be narrowed down to any particular one. Also check the tablet settings if you are using one.
You have presumably tried quitting and relaunching, as well as restarting the computer?

I don't think the problem is related, but I did have a problem selecting points and polys on a boned mesh. The only way I was able to select them was to deactivate deformers.
I sent the scen files off to Maxon, they have ackowleged the problem and sadi they would get back to me.
This only started happening in R9.
I'm on a G4 dual 800 old GeForce TwinView card.

I'm running Cinema R9.1 on a Power Mac G4, and I've had no trouble selecting things in the Object Manager. The problem I've had, and I'm still kind of shocked that it is a problem, is that I can't pick objects using Rectangle Selection. In every other 2D/3D app I've used (AutoCad, FormZ, etc.) I can select dozens or even hundreds of object without thinking. Am I the only one with this problem? Cinema is a brilliant app overall, but I can't believe that such a basic feature doesn't work reliably. That's one of a handful of issues that keeps me from modeling in Cinema.

Strange, that works OK for me (G5 C4D9.1) in Model or Object Mode (Tool).
Not sure why yours wouldn't?

I must add, that since upgrading to 9.1 I've been having some selection problems.
Not consistent but here and there.
I'll update to 10.3.8 (OSX) and see if it's an OGL thing.

Had to repair permissions to get C4D up and running again.
Very strange. Especially for a new machine. I guess all the software instalations effected the permissions.
Well, running like a skolded cat

Yep, having buggy problems like this too. It's very annoying. Everything was working fine before I upgraded to 9.1 though.
