View Full Version : Tennis Anyone
pritishd 03-02-2005, 10:07 AM Hey Guys,
This is a animation I created with Mr Lowman. All the inbetween is still linear. But I'll like your feedback before I start converting them into spline.

Feel free to rip it apart.
Thanks

i don't know how qualified i am to give any serious crits, but to me everything looks fine for no inbetweens... that said, I think if you added a little to his anticipation it would add some character to your guy, perhaps instead of him just holding out the ball, you could have him lean forward with his butt out so that he looks like he is sizing up his shot or competition or something. the movement looks good so far though:thumbsup:

Sorry if youre done with it and Im here with critisism..but I just felt for doing so :)

you'll have to excuse my phat ass drawing skills, but Im sure you get the idea :)
right now he just flings the ball up..theres no real motion or power in his arm..what Id wanna see him do is move his arm up like on the first picture, and then just let the ball go and the momentum will do the rest really..
then you got his weight going the wrong way before he jumps up, try that yourself, you'll loose your balance (while youre arching back and looking at the ball which youre about to strike!) and loose sight of the ball..so go backwards and arche the back, preferbly exagurated since thats what youre going for here :)
then I didnt draw this because all my skill points are gone (I mean come on, its a work of art), but when he lands, his arm which isnt holding the racket, should be in the pose the racket arm has..like close to his stumach..and the racket rather infront of him, streatching out his arm...maybe that could also help your run animation there before he gets to the net, where his arms arent moving at all..
I think you should get back up on this horse and finish it, looove the idea really..would be cool to do a 1min tennis game between two of these characters..some nice animation right there Im sure :)
nice colors in the render :) gonna use that style myself now I think :D
where could one find this rig?.. :S
good game!! :)

Hey Flow3d,
I basically based this animation by watching a video of Pete Sampras.
I went ahead back to reference and fixed the throw of the ball and anticipation before the jump. I hope it has force now.
As for the arm, I checked in the video and his arm does go back cause he is using as a counterbalance to the followthrough of the hit. I tried you what you had said, but it just weakened the throw of it.
I loosened up the arm more when comes to rest.
I hope it appeals more now.

PS: Thanks for the drawing. I can't draw either.

Hey there seems to be something wrong with your final tennis movie. ive tried to play it in 3 different players, but all I see is noise at the bottom and orange at thetop.

worked here.
looks good to me the weakest part is when he is landing. that part looks confusing somehow like his landing and standing just on one leg. he should be more stable.
overall theres timing and posing problems ...
