New script from Dedalo 3D (http://www.dedalo-3d.com/index.php?filename=SXCOL/makehuman/news/mhsss_new_release.html)
Let me do this:

The only "bad" thing that after computeing the image, you store the data in the VColor, so if you want to animate, it is lost...

But very good first (second) step, congratulation! For simple (as alone) image it looks perfect.

Here is a less blown out version:

I'd like to see it where it is more useful, like as a material for milk in a glass, or maybe on a lamp-shade made of glass, in a scene.
Seems promising.

How suffering is rendertime by the way?
Like, twice as slow? :)

Actually render time is barely affected at all. Because the SSS is precalculated and stored in the vertex colors. Although it renders fast, this is a disadvantage because just like dienben said, No animation possible.

I wish YafRay would give us a shader for this!

I wish Blender internal would give us a shader for this. I think the user cessen, over on the blender.org forums, who wrote the Oyen-Nayer/Blinn shader, did so in trying to conceptualize a plugin architecture for shaders. Unfortunately, nothing came of it (except the ON/B shader of course).

This SSS script is a cool tool, but right now it's use is limited. If you use vert colors to enhance your texturing already (like me), you're kind of out of luck.
