Hi there,
Right now i'm trying to make a realistic looking waterfall for a project a coupel guys and i are working on, but as of right now its looking like crap, so i decided to try out realflow, so i got the demo/trial version thingy off theri website and have been workign with it.
I can get teh water to flow and make a mesh, but it looks like crap right now, there are huge spaces between the metaballs and well, doesn't look like a waterfall at all!

Thats my particle settings and what it looks like right now, can anyone suggest anythign to fix or link me to some good tutorials on making a waterfall!

Thanks guys :)

For a waterfall it depends how white you want it to be - If you want the frothy breaking water then i'd do that with thousands of tiny motion blurred particles rather than a mesh - it's only if you want a refractive see through surface that you'd need something like realflow. Another option would be to model the shape of the water and animate some procedural bump textures flowing along it. Realflow needs a huge amount of particles to get the subtlety you're looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion :) I was trying with blured particles in max, but the render times were just so high (we're using max 7 with mental ray) so i'll have to try and look at speeding that up.

Mental ray motion blur will eat your children - it's pretty much add 5 times as much render time straight away - The scanline should be fine for this I reckon.
