View Full Version : Removing textures in 3ds max
pptdgc 03-01-2005, 05:09 PM I know this is probably a qustion with a very simple answer but... Once you have applied a texture to an object in 3ds max how do you remove it again so the object has no texture.

Just select your object, open up the material editor (shortcut key = m ) and drag a blank material on it.

Another way to choose "no texture" is in the material editor, you do the following:
1. Click on the map you want to remove in the map slot of your material.
2. Next click on the little text button on the right of the material editor, on the same line as diffuse color. (It says Bitmap only if that is what you have chosen for your map).
3. In the material/map browser that should open up when you click the Bitmap button, choose "NONE".
4. Now it should say NONE in your map slot.
This is good to know because you might want the other textures, in the other slots, if you have any there. Or you might want to go from a texture to a procedural map or change between procedurals.
