Okey here is my problem. I got shuttle SB75G2 and want to do something like this:
I got 2 speakers (Creative simple model) connected to the back audio panel of my shuttle, also I got headphones with mic connected to front panel. Now...the problem is, when I connect headphones to front panel there's no sound in speakers and that's okey cause then I can speak privately using skype, but to get back to my speaker sound I have to unplug my headphones and my question is: can I someow unplug them using software, because I think that after some time of plugin in and plugin out headphones I will damage the front panel input. Please help.

Go to control panel and audio and change the default playback device - my guess is when the headphones are detected, they beocme the default playback - just change that to ur speakers.

hmmm...Right now I'm in CYprus and can't get it from USA.Also it's strange that when I have so many inputs in on my mainboard there's no software solution to chcange from speaker to hadephones. I wonder how those usb headsets works, are they also disconnect speakers when connected?

there are some soundcards that have a software switching feature in the bundled software so i would have thought it's possible... i can't find any standalone programs to do it though.

not sure about usb headsets...

Just do as I said, and change the default playback device in your audio options inside Control Panel. No need to unplug anything.

jcbray; do you mean 'sounds and audio devices' in the control panel?
it doesn't show an option to switch between headphones and speakers in there...the default playback device is the audio hardware available on your system.

what soundcard do you have? perhaps it's an option that's only available on your card?

Sounds and Audio Devices, and then the Audio tab....you don't have this? I have integrated audio, AC97 or somesuch.

When you said default device is your audio hardware, did u mean you see your speakers? You're meant to. You onyl see the Audio devices connected to your computer. If you plug headphones in, they too will appear in that list, and you can make a selection. Once they are unplugged, they dissapear from that list.

perhaps it's different on your system then. on mine the default device list shows the audio playback hardware available to my computer (SoundMAX Digital Audio), not the speakers and headphones currently plugged into the audio outputs. have you got usb headphones or something?

on mine in audio tab in default device is realtek AC97. There is advance and there I can choose speaker stup but it doesn't do anything.

the advanced tab simply lets you choose a corresponding output device to the one you use, it doesn't actually allow you to switch between output devices... i think the only choice is to get an external switch similar to the one in the link earlier... i bet you could probably get one from a hi-fi shop or something... perhaps even make your own?

okey here what I've found...
http://www.ciao.co.uk/Logitech_Premium_USB_Headset_30__Review_5452876

"But what was this? My light was on, but nobody was home. Or if they were, they weren't making much noise. Not through the ehadphones at any rate. All the sounds from my PC were still coming out of my stereo.

A quick root through the control panel revealed the reason. Because the USB headset contains it's own sound-card, it had been installed as a separate audio source, reasonably enough I suppose, alongside my existing soundcard. And because my machine was all set up to output through the existing soundcard, nothing was coming out of my new headset. Bummer. But, as it turns out, easy enough to sort. You just go to the Control panel, open up the Sound & Audio settings, click on the "Audio" tab and change the default playback device to "Logitech USB Headset", remembering to click OK afterwards. This done, any programs you start up will use the new output device. The only thing to note is that only programs styarted after the change will use the new putput device. Anything already running will continue to use whatever was the default output when it started. This caused me some confusion at first but it can actually be quite neat, as I can have music playing on my stereo while I play games with my headphones on, meaning I can change the volume of the music or the game independently of each other."
