awesome!!! thanks for the link... the saw tool is almost like bandsaw in lightwave (something i really miss in c4d) and the fact that it seperates the polys instead of allowing c4d to mess of the other faces is extra good as far as i'm concerned.. this is exactly what i've been looking for. once again thanks for the link :) the only thing is to get rid of the dialog box you have to press the escape key... but then that's a minor niggle, and eprsonally i like keyboard shortcuts...

mdme: what's the difference between cutter and saw (apart from the numeric value of saw)?

Saw is handy, but unlike Cutter it does not turn corners. Kind of a bummer, that. And it drives me nuts that you have to close the plugin to undo, which I generally have to do 50% of the time because I don't know how the plugin interprets wich edge is 0% and which is 100%. But then again, it is useful and *free*.

saw takes a row of polys (this is how it interprest which direction the saw it doing in) and slices those polys at the point whatever % accross. what it does that cutter doesnt appear to do is that it slices right up to the ends... this actually creates holes in the model, but that's easier to fix than getting rid of extra poly's created by c4d itself. you can slice at any point accross a poly, and it's relational to the width of the poly, which is good for adding definition for instance along the bridge of a nose... where you don't want to slice exactly in the middle of the polys (and of course using the knife tool would be a pain in the butt over a curved surface)
Go through Jeff Carlsons Bel Air tutorial and you will find Saw extremely useful..
Now all we need is a spline patcher and LWエs been conquered.. :p :D
Thanks tkay  ...saw is brilliant :D
Ya know I have come to the conclusion that with the C4D tools we do have it makes us more inventive to re create things we see in other apps, which means using less tools will make us better modellers in the long run :) ...agree,disagree?

I think that someone who models anything very complex with Cinema4D is a hero and surely a great modeler. Look at pittcus model (they put a pic in the maxon site for R8 rel too) a lot of work, a lot of polys and all without ngons and other things. It is possible to model everything in Cinema4D if you want, but you have to be very good at modeling, and if you aren't a good modeler you'll become soon.
