I recently added another monitor to my Nvidia 6800GT card (latest drivers off the Nvidia site), and now Maya behaves a little odd.
The manipulator handles aren;t showing in all except the perspective view. Moving the hypershade window from one monitor to another causes either the preview or the name of the materials to dissapear. Selecting edges doesn;t always cause the edge to highlight (mostly in persp view).

I'm not sure if some of these problems are caused by settings or something.. If anyone has seen anything like this before, maybe they can help fix it (without installing Maya again)

Win XP running Maya 5.0.1

well..
i got this problem too when changing from my old poor Gforce 4 440 MX
to my new (now begining to get old =P) radeon 9600 pro.

i almost sure that this is a vedio card driver problem. coz' when i fix this problim in the past...it was driver problem.

any why...you say i have the latest , newest driver for you Nvidia.
so if it not a driver problem, i dont know what it is...
maybe try to install other virsion of the driver.

What drivers are you using currently? Maybe give the 67.22 a shot, because they seem to be quite reliable, but I haven't tested them over dual monitors.

If you're interested in softQuadroing with rivatuner, apperantly it greatly improves the stability of dual monitors.... See the post by alexgk in this thread: http://cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=214196&highlight=6800gt

Hi,
The new RivaTuner 15.3 allows you to softquadro I believe. I turned my 6800 OC into a Quadro FX (4000 if I remember?). I tried it at the time because the second monitor and it's lack of OpenGL sucked, so I softquadro'd and everything was great. I could see all my shaders in the hypershade if I dragged it onto second monitor. All the text appeared where it should, other weird issues were "fixed". So the RivaTuner worked good for me. OH, and performance on games was still very good. I forogot I had it on and was playing HL2 without any issues!

And yes I do know you can run your monitors in span mode, I just don't like using Maya that way. I like the dual view so softquadro was right for me.

Nice one, sounds like what I am experiencing. Well, I'll try the new divers first, then I'll see about softQuadro'ing the card..

Thanks! :)
