Hi I would like to model nemo just for character modeling exercise, not planed to animate.
I have no experience on character modeling, could anyone give me some suggestion on how to make the topology of the model?

print this out, and dwaw polygons on it.. all squares.. keep them big, just as little polys as possible, start with eyes and mouth etc.. the topology will show itself to you ;)

try it.

hm... from my expirience... it is most important is to get as manny info about it! ... it doesn`t matter what view just the more of pics = better . then u try drawing it with hand... draw it from more views and than u draw topology - quads on some picture...

this was my biggest mistake becase i never used to draw model... :(

Excellent suggestion. I just tried it, now I have a good working Nemo model done pretty quickly!

50% of characters are modeled with sub-d ( usually main characters ) ... and other 50% are nurbs... yeah yeah i know... manny people fall on their ass when they hear this... "How the hell do they model them with nurbs?" ... :D

That looks better jerrylong, make sure you pay attention to the subtler features around his eyes and that he has a nose, chin and cheeks though ever so subtle. Make sure you get the eyes in there soon too. They will help you model around the curved shape.

Also notice his mouth is not a gaping hole, but the end of his nose, a lower lip and cheeks on either side, that should drive your topology.
