Too long had he been trapped in the blasted caverns, lost in this strange, alien labyrinth.
The crash-landing on the metaphorically named planet "Hell 17X45", consumed by almost absolute darkness on the outside, and heck knows what on the inside wasn't the best option but he didn't have much choice at the time. Two scientist and colonist ships had landed here 20 years ago and after a few months of strange reports were never heard from again. Their last transmissions made a good deal of urban legends back at the station.
Rescue ships found no remains, except for empty, rusting bunkers.
“Sirens? Hellish succubus? Yea, right… Probably just some poisonous hallucinogens in the air.” Those were his words back then. Now he was sure that it was the blasted darkness that got on their nerves and then they probably killed each other.
His shuttlecraft didn’t land as he expected and crashed straight through good 20 layers of hollow cavernous bubbles until it had hit the water.
The strange brown swamp had enveloped the shuttle into right at the moment that he’s gotten out.
“God damn place! No wonder those colonists weren’t able to stay here long!”
The planet was obviously alive and hell-bent on getting its way.
The twisting flowers, following his flickering headlight as he moved were getting on his nerves. Hopefully he would be able to stay alive long enough for somebody to save him. It was a rather unlikely event, considering that the beacon sunk along with his shuttle. Not too many supplies were left in his suit, but 300 shots in his blaster were enough to make this planet pay for taking his only source of rescue. Soon he would surely go mad as well. He wasn't even sure where he came from any longer.
Waddling through the murky water with his weapon ready, he was prepared for anything but this...
