I'm trying to get to a contest of Digital Illustration and by the same time this is my first scene with multiple characters in a digital enviroment. What i'm trying to do is to get the composition mathemathicly justified by a 1970's theory wich was mainly used by the greeks and at some point recovered by the Reinaissance artist's. The theory wich I'm talking about is the "Root Five Rectangle", some sort of natural number 1.618, and it's reciprocal 0.618, wich represents the main grouth of the plants (like the sunflower) and the shell's spiral.

This composition obbey that growth, I know I'm getting things a little bit confused and hard for a first timer but I'm really excited by this theory.

The lighting it's going to be indoors with an outside light source (sun like 6pm) producing a high contrasting light and a volumetric lightining coming from this outside wich lights the entire indoor scene.

Here I place the scheme for the scene a rough sketch with the explanation of the proportions.

Second the composition with contours

Third a little bit of work over the characters and the table (the colors are not the final ones yet)

I'll work on the example of the light source.

Are you talking about the "Golden Ratio"? I think that's what I've heard it called.

Anyways, it's looking pretty neat. The wood has an interesting feel to it, and the overall style is quite unique. You may want to work on the faces and shading a bit more if you're going for realism, though I can see that you still have a ways to go. Keep at it, this is very interesting!

Yes, i was talking about the golden ratio, thanks a lot i didn't remembered the term. I'm trying to achieve some sort of realism, but still with the style of the Big eyes. Thanks a lot for your comment swizzle. Here in mexico it's called "Secciòn Aurea". Now i put the overall work of the skin, and the main idea of lightining indoors.

Wow. The guy on the right facing towards the table is looking really nice. It's still a work in progress, I know, but the skin is brilliant! The highlights work incredibly well already. It has that really interesting sheen that some people with very dark skin have. I'll be watching this even more closely. One problem I see with it, though, is that his body seems very long. I'm pretty sure that his buttocks should be just a little below that nearly horizontal wrinkle at his waist. The perspective on the table and left-hand chair looks a bit off as well.

Edit: You might try adding another wrinkle to make it look like he's not so long. Maybe something that implies that the cloth is wrinkled and going across the chair.

My deadline is tomorrow, so in the next hours i'll finish it, thanks for the tip, i will correct it now. I'll keep you informed.

I've finished the image and i've sent it to the contest chair. Thanks a lot for your help swizzle. I've corrected the folds and the wrinkles, also the position of the head and the shape of the clothes.
