Im still new to using nurbs so bare with here. Im having issues moving my surfaces around. For instance I have a robot leg with several surfaces and trims . Now when i select all and group it and try to move the leg it distorts all the nurbs. What is the proper way to move multiple surfaces and trims of the leg. How do I make the leg move as one piece without the surfaces distorting?

G'day there,

The answer lies in the history of each of your surfaces. When you group the parts of the leg, either:

- dont include any curves you may have used to build the nurbs (this is good if you think you may want to tweak with them later), or....

- select all the nurbs surfaces you want to group and go to Edit/DeleteByType/History, and that will delete the constuction history.

Good luck

This usually happens when you've used one surface in the creation of an adjacent surface. So for instance, if you select an edge isoparm of one surface in the creation of another (ie using birail, sqaure etc) then the second surface becomes linked to the the first.

Sometimes this can be kinda handy in that if you then select and move the first surface, the second will move along with it even if you didn't select it. But if you grab both surfaces, then the second one will experience a double transform and move double the distance you actually dragged it. This is because you moved it as well as its source that it was linked to.

By deleting the construction history, you break the relationship between the two surfaces.
