I usually either output from Video Vegas from the PC (out through a firewire card to a firewire deck & from there looped to a VCR) or from the Mac I use Final Cut Pro (again to the DV deck & looped to the VCR)

For just previews etc we output to TGA's then make a DV of the sequence and drop it onto vhs via firewire.
Most of the stuff that goes from here goes to another studio (as a TGA sequence) for sound post and and editing...then they dump it to beta there.
firewire is a good cheap means of getting broadcast quality to vhs etc. A card will cost between $60 to $200 (unless you have a mac and it built in:thumbsup:) then find a digital camera ($1,000 to $10,000 to more and more) or a DV deck ($1,500ish) and connect it to a VHS (Dirt cheap thanks to DVDs)
we got a second hand MiniDV panasonic for a little over a grand (crappy camera but still does the firewire thing perfect) and a $60 firewire card and have had no probs what so ever. fine for just playing around...and its pretty damn good quality at the end of the day.

Also firewire here too. I render everything out as DV sequences onto a 120gig external firewire harddrive and dump to a Canon Elura camera through Premiere 6.0 via firewire. My stuff ends up in our AVID anyway and it is really easy for me to hand off my DV tape to our AVID editor. No problems so far, works great and the quality is excellent!
Go firewire!
