I've just switched from Bryce to Vue for rendering, and I'm not going back.

The bed was modelled in Amapi Pro 7.16. The bedspread is just a 2d-plane consisting of a few thousand polygons. I used UV Mapper to create a UV map for it, imported the new model into Poser 5, used the cloth simulator to drape the bedspread across the bed and pillow. I then imported it all into Vue and rendered with global illumination. I'll redo it later, with a more high resolution texture.

I've always wanted to make a room that looked at least somewhat realistic, and with Vue I can finally do it. Still have a _lot_ to learn, but so far I love it.

Rendertime: 15 minutes.

Still working on getting the cloth to look good. Added Victoria and draped it across her.

A table for the bedroom, combining modern design and materials with more traditional materials like wood. And with a glass top you don't even have to open the drawer to see what's in it. ;) Rendered in Vue 5. I modelled the table and the mp3-player; the lamp came with Vue.

Hi Caine..nice GI renders...im in the process of finding a good GI solution so i might just take a look at vue.

And here's a bookshelf for the bedroom. To avoid getting too many polygons, I didn't chamfer the edges. I thought that since this will just sitt in the background anyway, there was no need for that. I might go back and redo it if necessary; might even remodel the whole thing with NURBS instead of polygons.

I love Vue, and if you compare performance/$, I think this is definetly the best program on the market. If all you need is a renderer to make GI-presentations that don't require absolute photorealism (although Vue can do that too, since you can render with volumetric ligths, radiosity and whatnot) I think Vue is a great option. Be on the lookout for Vue 5 Infinite; it has some pretty cool new tools, like the EcoSystem, that allows you to grow forests or replicate any object as many times as you wish. Just by selecting a type of plant, you can grow an entire forest with a few clicks of the mouse button.

You can also control the EcoSystem with Python scripts, and it has cool functions like varibale density - so if you drop a hotel model in the middle of the beautiful palm forest you've created, the density of the forest wíll decrease around the hotel, just like it would if you had cleared the forest. There is a breathtaking movie on the Vue website, showing a HUGE city with thousands and thousands of buildings, all rendered on a 512 MB system. There is also a scene with over 72 billion polygons, which I find rather inpressive.

Vue 5 Infinite also has Illumination baking, so you can bake the illumination information into a separate texture map. That means that as long as your objects are immobile, you only have to calculate the global illumination once for each object. That means that animations with GI are rendered much faster.

...and the bookshelf again, with some stuff added to it. This took 22 minutes to render at Final setting and 1600 pixels high. I love Vue.:D

Some edges are a little jagged, but I'm looking into the different antialiasing options. Have only been using Vue for two days, so I'm really just pushing buttons and hoping for the best right now.

More furniture for the bedroom. This is a low shelf made out of brushed aluminum with a wood top. It also doubles as a bench, so I might add a pillow or two. Still trying to get good results with Vue's radiosity engine.

C&C welcome.

And here are all the things put together. I still have problems getting the lights right, as you can see from the shadows and the "spill" on the walls. And please excuse the floating books in the low shelf; I moved the shelf but forgot about the books.

Comments?
