Hi Crackjoe,

Don't worry about not being a "very good artist," that's what this WIP forum is for, and people will give you helpful comments :)

I like the "knobbyness" of Knobbin the Gnome in the elbows, wrists, knees, and face. I think the head is the most unique part of the design, yet it's the smallest with regard to the entire character. Right now the focal point for me is the "diaper" thing which is very large and central. It kind of feels like you drew from the top down and things got bigger as you went.

Keep practicing!

hmm, I've never noticed that before but now that you mention it I notice i do have a tendency to get to bigger as i reach the bottom and ur right i do draw top to bottom.
Im happy with the face of the character it suits the look I wanted.

I had drawn this portrait a day or so ago of the head

Played with some colors in photoshop and made his head a little bigger to help balance him out.

If you don't mind me saying, he looks more like a Tengu than a gnome :

Tengus are like Japanese goblins and your guy is wearing wooden sandals like that of a samurai. Gnomes are small and stout and hide in the shrubbery of an English garden. Anyway, only things that I'd alter are to raise his kneecaps and to round out the bottom of his cheekbone.

Thanks for your input, I know he doesnt fit the stereotypical lawn gnome image but I took some reference for gnomes from an old monsters manual i had for AD&D a while back. Thats where I got the idea for the shoes. I was kind of going for a eastern asian look with this guy. in "my mind" i saw him as a goofey pipe smoking gnome.
