View Full Version : Flatten Spline Script -needed
room217 02-24-2005, 09:08 PM Hey guys/gals
I need a script to flatten splines. ie. assign a z of 0 to all verts.
I'm importing cad files and they look great in a top viewport but in a side the verts are all over the place! (too many splines to non-uniform scale btw)
I haven't written a max script in prolly 3+years so I'm a little rusty. Guess I have a long night of reading ahead of me.
Can anyone help? please :)
tia,
randy.

Not a script but...
but select all your splines apply a FFD 2x2x2 mod to the selection, then open up the modifier and select control points and select the top 4 points on the z-axis to 0 and then select the bottom 4 points and set them to 0 in the z-axis. Then convert the selection to an editable spline.
Hope that helps, thats how I adjust height when I work with landscapes.

you've probably missed this in the maxscript help file... search for this keyword...
"Flatten a SplineShape"
its under the "How To..."s section
and just in case you want to download the new maxscript helpfile for max7
here's the link: ftp://ftp.discreet.com/pub2/web/pro...pdated_help.exe (ftp://ftp.discreet.com/pub2/web/pro...pdated_help.exe) (c/o Bobo)
hope this helps!
