ninjaMonkey 02-24-2005, 02:44 PM Hi all
I decided to just start a thread for the content of the game, I've been working on for some time, while I know the WW2 genre has been done too death I do believe I have a unique slant on it.
If you want to keep uptodate with all the latest content

The game is coming along nicely, we have a very strong AI, and starting with a new engine, has really helped us push the graphical limits. Here are some screens, and I will follow by renders of our work.

Screens

A direct port of the Speedtree Huge forest application into Cipher. This is a very efficient port into the game, and runs very very well.

Here is some screens of the terrain system, the terrain is CLOD system, I need to update this syste, probably to SOAR, with a tiling/patching system. The Terrain loads in a base Heightmap which of low detail, then a second iteration of the terrain, loads in a more accurate terrain heightmap, allowing for greater detail.

wow, can't wait to try this baby out...what engine are you using? you should think about using a physics library.

Sorry for double post, but i have to say that your gun models are better than in some big name games i know. this looks very promising!

We are using Novodex for all our physics. Its a full integration

this looks great! it looks a lot like call of duty (well, if had too choose a WW2 game). You have great 3d modelers.

Just a quick update, I have managed to dig into what little life savings I have, and my mortgage, to opt for a much more heavy weight engine. We can now compete with the big boys on a more feasible level, at least on paper.
We have opted for the reality engine created by http://www.artificialstudios.com (http://www.artificialstudios.com/)
Here is a screen from their engine and I can confirm that the engine does look like this:
http://www.warmongerstudios.com/pr/screens/new.jpg
As you can imagine this now eases the reponsibily of heavy graphics programming off my shoulders and will allow me to focus more on the game/ai of things.

Just curious what your plans are with this game as far as get it published goes? Are you working at this currently in hopes to get a publisher, or do you already have one? or just purely for hobby? Also, you said you had a different take on this genre, but you hadn't really explained at all what that difference was. Curious about that.
