My only suggestion at this early stage is to maybe have the line of the mouth follow the contour of that big tooth.

... Mm ... also maybe the tail doesn't suggest the sort of volume that the rest of the body does. While the general idea of the tail - with that little jog and all - is appropriate to the character, the lines at the jog aren't honoring any form (with the exception of that last suckered bit).

Real cut fella -- very expressive!

I love the face and proportions, he has a lot of character! The back legs feel like they're different sizes, and you might consider extending the back right leg (screen-left) to feel like it's hitting the same ground plane as the other back leg. (But I know you said it's not finished, and I'm sure you had more that you wanted to do with it.) But great work, hope you'll take this further!
