I would like a review of my demo reel by professional's that would actually be reviewing reels for a CG house.

The area's of interest: 3d modeling, texturing lighting, and pre production art direction.

Thank you in advanced

First off, consider what kind of position you're applying for?! If it's an allround position at a smaller studio, then what you've got is a pretty good start! If you want a more role specific position at a bigger studio, animator or modeler, make the reel so that its focus is on that position!
When showing off your modeling, you should show the lowpoly cage, and thereafter the smoothed version! they want to see how your model is built, to determine how well it'll work in animation etc.!
Cut your reel down to 1 or MAXIMUM 2 min! You haven't got enough stuff at a top level, and the "filling" will only drag you down! remember you're only as good as the weakest peace on you reel!!!
And what's with the "I designed everything on this reel" note at the end? I see a cartoonshaded chicken straight out of Chicken Run? but maybe you beat Aardman to it?! ;) ..they'll only think, what else did he not do that he claimed he did?! Make your description list shot specific, and don't think "oh, that is just a minor thing, never mind!" ..that might cost you the job!
It's a tough world out there, and all you've got is your reel! make it kick ass!!! Good luck! ;)

I appreciate you tanking the time to take a look ..
I don’t like that chicken either was just putting it in there to show some diversity….
But would gladly cut it

“Make your description list shot specific”
Like the list @ the end
Or for each shot?

And I think I would like a position
In a smaller supportive studio…
Right now I’m one of the head guy’s where I’m @ just not doing the work I’m made for…..

You need to tell them exactly what you did on your reel! if you did EVERYTHING on your reel, and you used the same software throughout then I guess you can write it as you did in the end! Otherwise I'd print a piece of paper stating shot by shot what you did, what software was used, and maybe even what the shot was for!
But cut the reel shorter, I know it can be hard because you want to show your what you've spent so many hours of your life on! But they don't care, they just want to be blown away! Make it 1 min. of really impressive stuff, and none of the filling! Tighten it up, and lets have another look! ;)

to be perfectly honest.. i'd rather see 20 seconds of first rate work, than a couple of minutes of a mixed variety of work. Most people reviewing showreels (me included) usually turn them off after 10 or so seconds if nothing stands out.. that's why people think it's so hard to get into the industry. Just grab a couple of your better works and show them off. Quality over quantity..

hey Onida,

just out of interest what exactly do you do in Brisbane? I`m a animator thinking about moving from the UK to brissy if I could find a good job there.. if you know of any good places to try ( film/tv ) give me a shout !

Ok I cut it down added some wire frame’s models.. And still would like a critique form a pro, that sees demo reels all the time I would also like to know which piece should I start it off with and which I should end it with.
